GREEN: an active queue management algorithm for a self managed Internet
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we introduce a new active queue management (AQM) algorithm called GREEN. GREEN provides high link utilization whilst maintaining low delay and packet loss. GREEN enables low latency interactive applications such as telephony and network games. GREEN is shown to outperform the current AQM algorithms. Certain performance problems with current AQMs are discussed.

An Improvement over Random Early Detection Algorithm: A Self-Tuning Approach
Random Early Detection (RED) is one of the most commonly used Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms that is recommended by IETF for deployment in the network. Although RED provides low average queuing delay and high throughput at the same time, but effectiveness of RED is highly sensitive to the RED parameters setting. As network condition varies largely, setting RED's parameters with fixed ...

متن کاملAL-AWFI and WOODWARD: DESIGN OF ACTIVE QUEUE MANAGEMENT BASED.. DESIGN OF ACTIVE QUEUE MANAGEMENT BASED ON THE CORRELATIONS IN INTERNET TRAFFIC
The implementation of Active Queue Management (AQM) in Internet routers is a recommendation of the Internet Engineering Task Force. However, none of the current AQM algorithms directly makes use of the correlations present in Internet traffic, which are related to Long Range Dependence (LRD) and Self-Similarity. This is somewhat surprising in that it is well known that LRD is exhibited by Inter...
متن کاملPerformance & Analysis of REM, RED, & GREEN AQM Algorithms in Congestion Control
Congestion in a network may occur when the load on the network is greater than the capacity of the network In this paper we analyzed active queue management algorithms with respect to their abilities of maintaining high resource utilization, identifying and restricting disproportionate bandwidth usage, and their deployment complexity. We compare the performance of RED, REM, and GREEN based on s...
